The Johor Free Wifi project is a special project as a result of the Johor Heart Voice Plan study conducted in 2013. In the study, as many as 20.36% of respondents want telecommunication facilities to be improved. Following that, the Johor State Government has agreed to implement the Johor Free Wifi Project as an effort to improve the people's access to online services provided.
Kluang District Johor Free Wifi Project Launching Ceremony was held on 30 August 2015 in conjunction with the 58th Independence Threshold Celebration at Dataran Dewan Tasik Tunku Ibrahim Ismail.
Meanwhile, the Johor Free Wifi service started operating on 1 January 2016 in five locations around the administrative area of Kluang Municipal Council (MPK) as the following locations:
- Dewan Tasik Tunku Ibrahim Ismail
- Taman Merdeka
- Teminal Bas dan Teksi Kluang
- Persiaran Ismail Hassan (Kluang Walk)
- Gunung Lambak
